“An Analyst’s Hallucination as a Manifestation of Osmotic Communication in the context of Shared Pregnancy Trauma”
Discussant: Katy Bogliatto (BPS, Belgium)
Chair: Luz Maria Abtángelo Stürzenbaum (APM, Spain)
The analyst’s hallucinatory experience during sessions involving birth trauma – where primordial fears of disappearance trigger the analyst’s own traumatic – echoes. Through osmotic communication, a semipermeable receptivity facilitates the filtration of unconscious psychic content between both parties. This primal dialogue allows the analyst to act as a transformative vessel for the patient’s previously unmentalized experiences. Ultimately, the process highlights how deep-seated, nonverbal trauma is metabolised within the clinical relationship.
